INSTRUCTORS

Patrick Bazinet has trained in the Martial Arts for 16 years. For the last 8 years he has focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling with obsessive attention to technical detail. He is dedicated to providing the highest level of instruction and coaching to the Abhaya team and looks forward to seeing everyone achieve their training goals.
Devin Viner is a talented amateur boxer with 12 fights on his record including a provincial championship. He has also trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts for three years medaling in many grappling tournaments and looks forward to competing in the cage one day. He is an enthusiastic instructor and is always looking to help members of Team Abhaya improve themselves.
Jon McWaid has trained in Judo, Freestyle Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has been a dedicated member of Abhaya for over two years and now teaches the Submission Wrestling class on Monday evenings.
Melyssa Hutchinson will help you get in the best shape of your life. She is a professional Fitness Instructor and Resistance Trainer through the Nova Scotia Fitness Association and works with people of all ages and fitness levels. At Abhaya, Melyssa leads the Fit-to-Fight and Boot Camp conditioning classes. She is a constant inspiration to her students, providing the training tools and encouragement they need to achieve all their fitness goals.

Chantelle Doucette has been boxing competitively for almost five years. In 2007 she won a silver medal in the bantamweight (114-pound) division of the senior national boxing championships and remains one of Nova Scotia's top senior female boxers. Along with Luke Moore Chantelle teaches intermediate boxing at Abhaya passing on her training and ring experience while keeping a strong focus on technique, theory and boxing fitness.
Luke Moore with over 60 amatuer boxing fights including several trips to nationals brings a ton of experience to our Intermediate boxing class he teaches along side Chantelle Doucette.
Ryan Potter teaches our Beginner Kick Boxing class. Ryan has fought as an amateur boxer and is currently undefeated as an amatuer Muay Thai kick boxer.
Peter Campbell is one of the original Abhaya members. He has trained Muay Thai for many years including time spent in Thailand. Peter is also the Vice President of the newly formed Nova Scotia Muay Thai association and teaches our Intermediate Muay Thai class.
Mike Hutchinson has been training at Abhaya for over three years in which time he has received his blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Mike is one of our Mat Monsters instructors on Saturday mornings. He has two young boys who are both enrolled in the program.
Sean O'Brien is an instructor for our Mat Monsters program which his two boys attend. Sean is a long time student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has received his blue belt.
Kyle McDougall teaches our Beginner Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class on Wednesdays. Kyle remains our fastest blue belt receiving the promotion after only six months of training. Kyle continues to study and train in BJJ almost every day quickly evolving as both an instructor and as an athlete.
